Breastfeeding support

Michelle has been a midwife for 27 years. Her passion as a midwife is to support women to enjoy their pregnancy as much as possible and provide advice, support and treatments for ailments or health problems they might encounter; and following the birth of their baby support the adjustment to life as new parents and gain confidence and enjoyment of this magical and emotional new role.

Michelle has worked as a midwife in state and private hospitals in South Africa; and in the NHS for the past 18 years – on midwifery-led birth centres, labour wards, antenatal and postnatal wards, and as a community midwife for several years supporting women who choose to have homebirths. She specializes in Complementary Therapies for use during pregnancy and following birth.

Michelle enjoys supporting women with breastfeeding and believes that every individual woman and baby will find their own way to successfully breastfeed, and that one regime or set of rules certainly does not fit every mother and baby. Her years of experience supporting women with different birth experiences and breastfeeding experiences – homebirth, caesarean section, instrumental birth, premature baby, twins has resulted in an open-minded view of breastfeeding, and providing advice and support with the ultimate goal for a happy and contented mother and baby.
